UAL Code of Conduct
UAL aims to provide an environment where sport, technical creativity, learning and community are grounded in respect, integrity, safety and responsibility.
UAL policies
Scope
One standard for participants, mentors, volunteers and partners
The Code applies to UAL events, youth programmes, training, travel, meetings, digital communication and activities delivered on behalf of or in partnership with the League.
Fair play
Follow rules, respect competitors and officials, and never treat a result as justification for breaking the regulations.
Responsibility
Take responsibility for your behaviour, equipment, words and decisions, and do not shift the consequences of deliberate risk onto others.
Communication
Respect is a practice, not a slogan
Technical and sporting disagreements can be firm without becoming personal.
- criticise decisions or technical ideas, not a person’s dignity;
- do not threaten, intimidate, harass or humiliate;
- do not publish private correspondence or personal data without appropriate justification;
- do not create an atmosphere where newcomers are afraid to ask questions or admit mistakes;
- respect another person’s right to stop an activity they consider unsafe.
Youth programmes
Higher responsibility when working with children
Adults and mentors have more authority than young participants. That difference must never be used for pressure, humiliation or dependency.
Safe learning environment
Explain patiently and treat mistakes as opportunities to learn. Young participants should be able to speak to another responsible adult if they feel uncomfortable.
Clear roles and boundaries
Mentor communication with minors should relate to the programme and activity. For travel and events, organisers should define responsible adults and communication with parents or guardians.

Results and officiating
Do not pressure officials, seek hidden advantages, falsify results or interfere with another competitor’s equipment. Use the procedure defined by the event rules for disputes.
Conflicts of interest
Disclose personal interests that could affect an organisational or sporting decision and, where practical, pass the decision to an independent person.
Property
Use aircraft, tools, chargers and materials belonging to others only with permission. Report damage or loss promptly.
Representing UAL
Only authorised people speak officially on behalf of the League. Personal opinions should not be presented as UAL positions without approval.
Unacceptable conduct
Behaviour that conflicts with UAL values
- threats, deliberate creation of danger or physical aggression;
- harassment, bullying, humiliation or repeated unwanted pressure;
- discriminatory treatment or comments;
- sexual harassment or unwanted intimate conduct;
- deliberate safety breaches after instruction or warning;
- fraud, falsification of results or intentional deception;
- unauthorised use of another person’s property, personal data or materials.
Reporting
How to raise a concern
Contact the responsible person at the event or UAL directly. Include the date, location, a concise description and a way to contact you for clarification. UAL aims to handle concerns with appropriate confidentiality while allowing a fair review of the facts.
Response
Proportionate consequences
Depending on the circumstances, action may include clarification, a warning, changed participation conditions, removal from an activity or ending cooperation. Where there is a credible immediate safety threat or suspected offence, organisers may contact the appropriate authorities.

Questions about the Code or reports of concerning conduct can be sent to UAL.
